‘A Futile and Stupid Gesture’ begins filming in California

A new movie chronicling the career of National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney is about to begin filming in and around Los Angeles.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture, based on Josh Karp’s 2006 best-selling book of the same name, stars Will Forte as Kenney, as well as Joel McHale as Chevy Chase; Matt Lucas as Tony Hendra; Thomas Lennon as Michael O’Donoghue; Seth Green as Christopher Guest; Jackie Tohn as Gilda Radner; Natasha Lyonne as Anne Beatts; Emmy Rossum as Kathryn Walker; Elvy Yost as Mary Marshmallow; Matt Walsh as Matty Simmons; John Gemberling as John Belushi; Rick Glassman as Harold Ramis; Camille Guaty as Alex Garcia-Mata; and Jon Daly as Bill Murray. Martin Mull has also starred on to star as an older version of Kenney.

Kenney co-founded the National Lampoon magazine in 1970 and went on to co-create the movies Animal House and Caddyshack.

The movie is scheduled to shoot in Pasadena, CA over the next couple of weeks. On April 29, A Futile and Stupid Gesture will be filming at 476 Bradford St, on May 5, the movie will be shooting at 1100 Avenue 64 and on May 6 they’ll be filming at 470 W. Walnut St.
