This weekend New York on Location returns to Astoria, NY where fans will be able to get a peek behind-the-scenes of NYC movie-making.
The family-friendly, day-long street fair will feature 20 movie trailers and trucks that people can tour, Q&As with film professionals who are currently working in the city, stunt performers who will reenact street fights, high falls and stunt driving, as well as makeup and hair professionals who will be doing demos throughout the day.
Attendees will also get to sample treats from the catering trucks that serve up meals to the city’s crews every day.
NY On Location will take place on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 22 at the Kaufman Astoria Studios backlot on 36th Street between 34th and 35th Avenues, the Museum of the Moving Image at 36-01 35 Ave. and surrounding streets.

Museum of the Moving Image, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, and Kaufman Astoria Studios will present New York on Location, a day-long, family-friendly street fair that offers a behind-the-scenes look at film production in New York. The public will have the rare opportunity to go inside 20+ working movie trailers and trucks—straight from productions shooting in New York—and speak directly with movie professionals about what they do on set. As in past years, the event will feature stunt performers demonstrating street fighting, high-falls, and stunt-driving; makeup and hair demos; and weather effects like snow and rain. Food will be available from movie catering trucks and treat trucks.
Location: Kaufman Astoria Studios backlot (36 Street, between 34 & 35 Ave), Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35 Ave), and surrounding streets—at the heart of the Kaufman Arts District.
Admission is also free to the Museum all day.
Weather Effects (snow and rain), and Hair and Makeup Demonstations will be ongoing throughout the day. Free face painting and hair extensions for kids!
