We have some good news for fans of The Path who are already jonesing for new episodes, filming of season 2 is officially underway!
The compound seen on the series, and the location where they are filming this week, is actually the Marydell Faith and Life Center in Nyack, NY, owned by the Sisters of Our Lady of Christian Doctrine. The show chose the site for its cabins that were once used as a summer camp by the Sisters. The property is also bordered by the woods of Hook Mountain State Park, another ideal setting for the dramatic series.
Hook Mountain State Park is also a great spot where Path fans can take a hike on one of the many trails throughout the property. There may soon be even more trails to explore as the Sisters recently agreed to a $3.1 million deal with the state allowing the Trust of Public Land to acquire 30-acres of the 38-acre property.
Last winter, while filming season one at Marydell, the crew would set up their base camp at the North Midland entrance of the property. They also made small changes, like hanging lots of the Meyerists’ eye symbols around the property. If you do want to explore the property or are hoping for an Aaron Paul sighting, keep in mind the land is the private property of the Sisters. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the nearby state parks and trails.
