Like many of our favorite TV shows, How To Get Away With Murder is set in Philadelphia but is actually filmed in Los Angeles. And, among the series’ many frequent filming locations is the beautiful Victorian house that is featured in the show as the home and office of Annalise Keating (Viola Davis).
Located at 1130 W. 27th St, Los Angeles, the house is part of the North University Park Historic District, just north of the USC campus and bounded by West Adams Blvd on the north, Magnolia Ave on the west, Hoover St on the east, and 28th St on the south. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places due to its many Victorian and Craftsman-style homes, a few of which date back to the 1880s.
Strolling through the neighborhood fans will likely recognize a few other homes that have had starring roles on TV and in movies, like the Miller and Herriott House, located at 1163 W. 27th St, which was featured in the season four Halloween episode of Modern Family when Phil hosts an open house at the residence.
How To Get Away With Murder does continue to film outside 1130 W. 27th St, but not as much as you might think they do. While all of the exterior scenes of Annalise’s office are filmed here, the interior of the home that is shown is actually just a set on the HTGAWM soundstages at Sunset-Gower Studios in L.A.
