Must See Filming Location: The Halfway House Cafe in L.A.

Today, the Freeform series Stitchers is filming at one of Southern California’s most famous locations, The Halfway House Cafe in Santa Clarita.

The Halfway House Cafe has seen a steady stream of filmmakers and stars pass through its doors since the 1930s. The café, which got its name from being situated halfway between Los Angeles and Palmdale, is ideal for filmmakers who need a rural, rustic setting that is still close to L.A.

“This is where the city basically ends. After that, there isn’t much until you reach Palmdale,” says Sally Moore, who has managed the restaurant since 1999.

Among the movies and TV shows that have filmed at Halfway House Cage are Gilmore Girls, Hand of God, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Heroes, Melrose Place, CSI, ER, Angel, The King of Queens, Sons of Anarchy, Monk, Space Cowboys, Spartan, Lost In America, Georgia Rule, Heartbreak Ridge, The Twilight Zone, Hit & Run, Waitress, and Every Which Way But Loose.

One of the most famous TV commercials of all time was also filmed at The Halfway House Cafe. The 1991 Pepsi commercial featuring Cindy Crawford wearing a white tank top and denim Daisy Dukes was filmed here. Crawford has returned since to film spoofs of the commercial, which is still talked about today, over 25 years later.

The Halfway House, located at 15564 Sierra Hwy, serves hearty breakfasts and lunches daily from 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

  1. Also in “The Leftovers”, Episode 1. I only took note of it because of the red bbq sign, having just seen it in the “Gilmore Girls Year In the Life” Fall episode.
