Tracy Morgan’s new TBS series, ‘The Last O.G.’, begins filming in New York City

During last week’s Turner Upfront Presentation, it was announced that Tracy Morgan’s upcoming TBS series has been titled The Last O.G., and will co-star Cedric the Entertainer, along with Criminal Mind’s Taylor Mosby and Dante Hoagland.

The comedy series, which was created by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri, stars Morgan as Tray who, according to Deadline, is “an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released on good behavior from a 15-year prison stint.” After returning to his gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, Tray finds is former girlfriend has married a successful rich white man and the two are raising Tray’s twin sons together. Unable to support himself, Tray ends up falling back the skills he learned in prison to support himself.

Cedric the Entertainer plays Miniard Mullins in the series, the man who runs the halfway house where Tray stays after prison. Mosby and Hoagland will portray the twins, who resemble Tray but can’t relate to him.

The new show marks Morgan’s return to TV just two years after the car accident that left him and three years after the end of 30 Rock. TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the series, so far.

Though the new show was just announced last week, it is already filming on location in NYC. On Monday, May 22, the show was shooting at Greenpoint and Manhattan Ave in Brooklyn. On Thursday, May 25, The Last O.G. will be filming on President Street between Hoyt Street and Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, according to Carroll Garden Patch.
