Disappointed by the ‘Dirty Dancing’ remake? Forget all about it at a summer festival celebrating the original

Critics and fans alike didn’t hold back from sharing their disappointment in ABC’s Dirty Dancing remake.

While Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes were able to recreate, scene for scene, the original 1987 version of the movie, they definitely didn’t have the chemistry that Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze exuded back in the day, and Twitter took notice. Fans didn’t hold back from criticizing the movie’s song choices, mediocre dance moves, and the flash-forward ending.

If you’re among the legions of fans feeling empty after watching the Dirty Dancing remake, we have the perfect way for you to immerse yourself in the classic, and forget all about ABC’s cheap imitation.

This year’s Dirty Dancing Festival will take place from August 18- 19 in Lake Lure, North Carolina, one the original movie’s filming locations (the remake was filmed in Cashiers, NC).

This year’s fest will mark the 30th Anniversary of the classic film with a screening, games, plenty of dancing, lake lifts, and maybe a few special guests.

The annual event is not only a great way for fans of the film to interact and celebrate, but also gives back to the community. This year the Dirty Dancing Festival is partnering with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) and will be donating a percentage of ticket sales to this great cause.

More information can be found on the official Dirty Dancing Festival website.
