Fans of the hit HBO show Westworld will be able to actually visit it for a limited time. The network is recreating the park featured in the series with realistic interactive androids.
From March 9 to March 11, the Westworld-themed park will be open for visit in Sweetwater outside Austin, Texas, exclusively for attendees of the South by Southwest festival (SXSW). The experience, called “Live Without Limits Weekend”, will start in Austin at the EastSide Tavern, where guests will be transported to Sweetwater after having enjoyed cocktails and premium dining.
The guests will undergo an interview and evaluation process and will receive either a black hat or a white one. At that point, they’ll be released into the re-creation of Sweetwater to explore, which will be spread out over two acres.
According to Entertainment Weekly, fans will be able to interact with the park’s “hosts” (played by actors), sample western-themed food and beverages, touch non-robotic horses, and hunt for clues to the show’s many mysteries. The location will include the show’s Coronado Hotel and Mariposa Saloon. The hosts will be programmed on how to handle guest comments and questions.
The event is currently sold out, but new waves of tickets will be released. For more information about these tickets, fans are encouraged to follow @westworldhbo on Twitter.
On March 10, series creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are taking part in a panel during the SXSW festival with cast members James Marsden, Jerffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, and Thandie Newton, when they will provide some information about the upcoming season.
