Still recovering from last Sunday’s performance of “Shallow” during the Oscars by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga? Need more “A Star is Born” in your life?
The hit movie is coming back to theaters this Friday, for one week only, with 12 minutes of extra footage, including a new song called “Clover”, which you can hear below:
If after watching the movie you feel like going to the same places as Ally (Lady Gaga) and Jackson, or just “Jack” (Bradley Cooper), and you are visiting L.A. anytime soon, these are the locations to go:
1. The drag bar where Jack meets Ally
The main characters meet for the first time when Jack sees Ally performing “La Vie en Rose” at a drag bar. The real bar is called The Virgil, located at 4519 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles 90029).
2. The cop bar
Jack takes Ally to a kind of bar that he prefers: a cop bar. That location is actually The Short Stop, at 1455 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles 90026):
3. Parking lot
One of the most important scenes in the movie takes place at a supermarket parking lot, when Ally sings for the first time an excerpt of “Shallow”. That market is the Super A Foods (2925 Division St, Los Angeles 90065) in Glassell Park.
4. Ally’s house
Despite many discussions about where Ally lives (New York, New Jersey, or L.A.), Warner Bros. has confirmed she is supposed to live in Angelino Heights. Her house, where she lives with her dad, is a 1904-built traditional house between Silver Lake and Echo Park (739 E Kensington Rd, Los Angeles 90026).
5. The place of Ally’s first performance with Jack
After quitting her job, Ally accepts Jack’s invitation to see his performance and gets into a private jet to get there. In real life, Jack is playing at the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park (2700 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles 90027), which is less than a 10-minute drive from Ally’s house.
6. Jack’s home
Without spoiling it, it is fair to say that the most important events of the story take place at Jack’s home. That house is located in Malibu (481 Cold Canyon Rd, Calabasas 91302).
7. View of Ally’s Billboard
There’s a point in the film when Jack and Ally are having a conversation with a huge billboard in the background with Ally’s face on it. She’s staying at the Chateau Marmont (8221 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles 90046).
8. Concert locations
The movie was also shot at the Shrine Auditorium, for both “I’ll Never Love Again” and the Grammys scene; at DTLA’s Regent Theatre, the Forum in Inglewood, and other places, such as Coachella and Stagecoach festivals at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
That’s it for the main locations! If you would like to finish your visit with some costumes from the movie, Warner Bros. has included them at the end of the tour Stage 48: Script to Screen. So there’s plenty to do if you liked Ally and Jack’s story!
