Captain America to begin filming in June

As we first reported, Marvel Studios has now officially opened a production office at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England for Captain America: The First Avenger. Filming is scheduled to begin on June 28th of this year, for a July 22, 2011 movie release.

The movie will be directed by Joe Johnston (October Sky) and will star Chris Evans (The Losers), Hayley Atwell (The Duchess), Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) and Samuel L. Jackson.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

  1. How can Chris Evans play the “human torch” and “captian america”!!!!!!!!! if they are going to do an Avengers movie … the “Fantastic Four” have to be part of the movies…he can’t be two people/superhero.!

    • Because Fox owns the Fantastic Four (and Silver Surfer) and X-Men, so they will never be able to play in the same movies as the Avengers, which are owned by Marvel’s film company. likewise Spiderman is owned by Sony, so he won’t be able to play with any of the other characters either.
Besides, I think they’ve pretty much given up on Fantastic Four movies. If the rights revert to Marvel, and they decide to do another F4 movie, I’m sure it will be a reboot, like they did with Hulk.
