Titanic 3D to be Re-released in April 2012

James Cameron first released the movie Titanic on December 19, 1997. The movie was a huge box office hit, becoming the #1 movie for 15 weeks straight. It ranked in a total Domestic Gross of $600,788,188, and it also went on to win a total of 11 Academy Awards.

While Gloria Stuart – who played “Old Rose” in the movie – celebrated her remarkable 100th birthday on July 4th, it was announced that Titanic would be re-released in 3D for it’s on centennial anniversary.

April 2012 marks a centennial anniversary of its own, as the RMS Titanic attempted to traverse the Atlantic from April 12-14, 1912. In addition to the historical timing, the intended month of release gives James Cameron plenty of time to perfect the finer details of the 3D conversion.

Filmed in various locations,  California, Mexico, Canada and the Atlantic Ocean, Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, and Bill Paxton.
