If you live in the area around Bootlegger Cove you might as well get used to the camera crews as they will become a common sight over the next 10 weeks.
We previously reported that Everybody Loves Whales would start filming in Alaska in September, now the date has finally come. Universal Pictures started shooting near the Anchorage cove last Thursday.
As you may remember, the movie, directed by Ken Kwapis, is based on the 1988 rescue of a trio of California gray whales that got trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle.
According to David Linck, a spokesman for the movie, the production will film for 12 hours a day, five days a week. Linck added, “it generally takes about a day to shoot two to four minutes of a film”. It is expected that the film crew will be working Thursdays through Mondays, thus allowing them to shoot in local buildings, such as schools, and other public buildings, during the weekends.
So far you wont really see anyone too famous on set, the stars and special effects will come later. Only actor Ted Danson was reportedly on set briefly Thursday morning. It is expected that Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Bell and John Krasinski will follow soon.
Kristen got into Alaska on the 16th (she came back to LA for You Again Premiere last night). Here is a pic from Alaska c/o her Twitter acct:
