As we (and most other entertainment blogs) have reported, The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) is expected to begin shooting in New Orleans in April 2011.

It has also been assumed that they would return to Chicago and London (where the first two films were made) as well but there aren’t too many details about either leg of the shoot.

Now, Batman-news.com is reporting that their source has confirmed “they will be returning to Chicago for the majority of exterior shooting.” They added that the most of the New Orleans shoot will take place in the Warehouse District. There is also a studio being constructed for the film in NOLA.

In other (odd) Batman news, there is a Batman tour in the works for the U.K.:

Warner Bros, DC Entertainment and Nick Grace of Water Lane Productions Ltd announced that Batman Live – a unique action-packed live show – will tour arenas for the first time ever across the UK and Europe, beginning in summer 2011 and arriving in North America by summer 2012.

The live show will feature Batman, his trusty counterpart Robin, tireless butler Alfred and a host of other favourite Batman characters, including villains such as The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin. The story will take place in several settings from the famed DC Comics stories, including Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum.

“With the touring ‘Batman Live’ show, we’re bringing Batman’s adventures to live audiences for the very first time,” said Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment. “The idea that we’re doing it with a production team this talented and with this much passion is thrilling.”

Its hard to determine what exactly the show will be. It’s not a musical and it doesn’t really sound like a play either. Would you be interested in checking out Batman Live?
