Well, we made it to Friday, but not without missing a few of the week’s top headlines. Here’s a round-up of the best of the rest:
– The first trailer has been released for Just Go With It, the Jennifer Aniston/Adam Sandler movie that was shooting in Hawaii this summer.
-Jenna Fischer and Topher Grace have signed on to star in The Giant Mechanical Man which begins production in Detroit later this month.The romantic comedy is about two outsiders, one a misunderstood street performer (played by Chris Messina) and the soft spoken zoo worker who falls for him. Malin Akerman also appear as Fischer’s well-meaning sister who pushes her towards dating a pompous motivational speaker (Grace). [Comingsoon.net]
– An independent movie starring David Zayas (who plays Sgt. Batista on Dexter) called Junction, about four meth-addicts who discover a dark secret about a homeowner during a burglary, will begin shooting on November 17 in Fort Lee, NJ. The shoot is expected to last until mid-December. [Broadway World]
– Sweet Baby Jesus, which was suppose to be shot in Maryland and Ireland this fall, as been derailed since promised payments were never received by the movie’s director and crew. Sweet Baby Jesus was suppose to star Adrien Brody, Sharon Stone, and Bette Midler. [The Playlist]
-Despite our previous reports, Adaline, starring Katherine Heigl, won’t be filming in Boston after all. The movie is now expected to shoot in Canada next spring. [Boston Herald]
– Real police officers were called to the set of Law and Order: Los Angeles after a real gun was found on set. [Google]
– Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, and Leighton Meester premiered their new movie, Country Strong, in Nashville this week, where the movie was also filmed. [Just Jared]
– Dark Shadows will begin filming in April. The movie, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, will be based on the 1960’s soap opera about vampire Barnabas Collins and the other supernatural residents of Collinsport, Maine. There is no word where the movie will be shot, but chances are it won’t be in the U.S. Burton and Depp tend to prefer U.K. locations, so we would be surprised if this movie was an exception. [CBM]
– According to Production Weekly, Dungeons & Dragons III: The Book Of Vile Darkness is scheduled to begin filming January 17th in Baton Rouge. [PW]
– PW also reports that filming starts next month in Los Angeles on FDR: American Badass which follows Franklin D. Roosevelt as a werewolf hunter tracking down the likes of Adolf Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito in his customized wheelchair of death (seriously). [PW, BD]
– Production started this week on the Alien prequel. The movie will likely start principal photography in L.A. early next year. [CBM]
– Last week during the Savannah Film Festival, which honored Sir Ian McKellen, Liam Neeson, Isabella Rossellini, Miles Teller, and press agent Bobby Zarem, McKellen reenacted his experience filming the famous “You shall not pass!” scene in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. [Chud]
– Abbas Mustan’s remake of 2003’s The Italian Job started filming in Goa on Monday. [Sawf News]
– AMC officially canceled Rubicon which was shot in NYC over the summer. [Collider]
– The Hangover 2 is currently shooting in Thailand and new pics of Zach Galifianakis (with a shaved head, which we already knew about) and Ed Hlems (with a face tattoo) have surfaced. Looks like they are trying hard to top the first one (hopefully not too hard). [TMZ]
– Hayden Panettiere and Nikki Reed are set to star in Downers Grove, a new film based on the novel by Michael Hornburg. Shooting begins this spring in Louisiana. The movie was suppose to be filmed in Chicago, but Illinois lost out to Louisiana’s tax incentives. [Comingsoon.net, My Fox Chicago]
– Tiger Eyes, starring The O.C. & Gossip Girl alum Willa Holland, is currently filming in New Mexico. The movie is based on the Judy Blume novel of the same name. [Sindication, NM Film]
– A movie about the 33 Chilean miners rescued on Oct. 13 has already started shooting in another Chilean mine, not far from the one the men were trapped in for 69 days. [Collider]
– This year’s Austin Film Festival honored screenwriter David Peoples, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, and television writer David Simon. Sadly, just two days after attending a panel for the festival, one of the fest’s other featured directors, George Hickenlooper, died of natural causes. Hickenlooper was at the festival to discuss his upcoming movie Casino Jack. [NPR, Austin Film Festival]
– Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, and Hilary Swank might all be spending the winter in NYC as they are all in negotiations to star in New Year’s Eve, the follow up to Valentine’s Day. It’s going to be a busy season for De Niro who is also set to receive the DeMille Award at the Golden Globes and is rumored to star in Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, which is scheduled to start production in December in NYC as well. – Not sure how we missed this but it looks like Christina Ricci was back in Michigan this summer shooting a movie called War Flowers. The movie, set during the civil war, shot several scenes in Saline in mid-June. It is expected to hit theaters March 2011. [AnnArbor.com]
– Emma Watson, who is currently shooting My Week With Marilyn, is expected to start filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower in December. The author of the book on which the movie is based, Stephen Chbosky, said in a recent visit to Slippery Rock University that filming will take place in Pittsburgh. [Screen Rant, Emma Watson Updates]
– Margot Kidder and Dave Foley are currently filming the comedy Servitude in Toronto. [Hollywood Reporter]
– Here is the first picture we’ve seen of Jim Carrey in Mr. Popper’s Penguins which is currently filming in New York. [People]
– Though the exact location is still unknown, the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development has confirmed that principal photography for the U.S. filming of Dr. Who will take place in Utah between Nov. 17 & Nov. 19. [Gallifreyan Embassy]
– They still need crew members for 50 Cent’s next movie, The Set Up, which in tentatively scheduled to start filming in Grand Rapids, MI early next month. [Woodtv.com]
– A few A-Listers were spotted filming in upstate New York last month. Hugh Dancy, Sarah Paulson, and Elizabeth Olsen (sister of Mary Kate and Ashley) spent several weeks shooting Martha Marcy May Marlene in Sullivan County. [River Reporter]

– Even though its set in Key West and Havana, HBO Films will shoot much of Hemingway and Gellhorn (based on the five year marriage of Earnest Hemingway and the brilliant Martha Gellhorn) in San Francisco. The movie will star Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman. [San Francisco Gate]
– The Chad Michael Murray movie that was shooting in Atlanta earlier this fall and was then called Merry Ex-mas, is now called Christmas Cupid. You can catch it on ABC Family December 12. [Just Jared]
– The Michigan Film Festival is looking for volunteers this weekend to do various jobs at various locations. [United Way]
– Natalia Vodianova and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers are filming on location for Belle du Seigneur this week in Camogli, Italy. [Modeloandids.com]
– In casting news, Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Patrick Fugit, Elle Fanning, and Thomas Haden Church have been cast in Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo. Channing Tatum is in talks to star in 21 Jump Street. James McAvoy and Tom Hanks may star in Cloud Atlas. Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton are all reportedly in talks to star in Wes Anderson’s next film. [Deadline,Just Jared, Digital Spy, THR]
– Thomas Haden Church has also joined the cast of Killer Joe, starring Matthew McConaughey who just wrapped Bernie in Texas last week. Killer Joe is expected to start shooting at Second Line Stages in New Orleans (where Green Lantern was also recently shot) this week. [Scene]
