After performing with New Kids On The Block and The Backstreet Boys on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, Donnie Wahlberg gave his biggest fans a special treat on New Year’s Day when he invited them to the New Year’s Day 1 Party at Mohegan Sun.
A bunch of our readers were there and one of them, Lisa, sent us this report:
I went to Donnie Wahlberg’s New Years Day 1 party at Mohegan Sun on 1-1-11. The week of Christmas Donnie was talking all about the NKOTBSB being on Dick Clark’s Rockin Eve in Times Square on Twitter. He said, “I am going to find a place for all my BH Soliders ( what he call us on twitter) to meet up for a New Years party link will follow”. He posted the link for the party and the cost was $50 dollars a ticket and the party was to be All Access/VIP. Well I bought myself a ticket as a birthday (its January 6th) present.
There were two groups, I was in group A and there was a group B. Also when you bought the ticket you were to be put in a drawing to win access to a seat on the Party Bus with Donnie. Well that was not exactly the case and instead, the promoters of the party then sent all of use who bought tickets an email with a link and they were asking $100 dollars a ticket to get on the bus which had a limited number of seats.
Anyway, I go to [Mohegan Sun] and waited on line since group A was to have their meet and greet at 7pm but since the buses (yes they added another bus without telling anyone) were late getting there, we were taken into a small bar with a dance floor and on the dance floor they had a professional photographer take your picture with Donnie. We were all told the link to the pictures from the party will be sent to us. I met him and he remembered me from when we met on November 30th on the set of Blue Bloods through OLV.
After the meet and greet we were taken into Ultra 88 Club where the party was to start at 10pm. Well since the buses came late, it started late at midnight and lasted for 2 hours until 2am. Donnie sang along to a few songs like his own, “Were Gonna Rise” and I Got It”. He also sang along to “Dirty Dancing”, “Single”, and ” Full Service” along with some rap songs. He was on the podiums singing and dancing.
I met and hung out with Donnie’s oldest brother Arthur who was very nice and tried to bring me into Donnie’s private VIP but I did not have that special bracelet that was coded to be scanned by security. He did let me stand outside of it and I was able to talk to Donnie briefly during the party. Oh what a night it was, it was the best birthday gift ever!
