Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks headed to NYC for ‘Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close’

Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks are getting ready to shoot Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close in New York City.

The movie is an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer’s post-September 11th novel about, “9-year-old Oskar (Thomas Horn) who finds a key in an envelope in his father’s closet. His father had died in the September 11th attacks, and Oskar is certain that if he finds the purpose of the key, something will be explained to him to make his father’s death make more sense. The word “Black” is written on the envelope, but since it isn’t written in black ink, Oskar comes to the conclusion the key was given to his father by someone with the last name Black. So Oskar grabs the Manhattan phone book and starts visiting everyone in New York City with the last name “Black” to try to find the purpose of the key.”

Though there have been various start dates reported for the film (the casting company for the movie notes a 2.1.11 start, while the NYC Mayor’s Office notes a start of 1.24.11) it is expected to be wrapped up by May as director Stephen Daldry hopes to have the movie in theaters by the tenth anniversary of September 11th later this year.
