Kevin James headed to Quincy, MA for ‘Here Comes The Boom’

Kevin James

There is good news for the citizens of Quincy, Massachusetts.  A new movie starring Kevin James as a music teacher/Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, tentatively titled Here Comes The Boom, is set to start filming in Quincy this spring.

James hinted at the role last year during an interview where he stated that he “was scheduled to start  work on a movie about a high school teacher who moonlights as a professional fighter in an effort to save the school’s music program.” Salma Hayek is also expected to appear in the movie.

According to the Quincey Mayor’s Office, “The production renting out the old Quincy High School building on Coddington Street.” It is expected that most interior shots for the film will be completed inside the building. It has been agreed that Quincy will receive $80,000 in rental fees for the use of the vacant school, filming is expected to last for 20 days in the building.

The shoot would not be the first time Quincy has provided the backdrop to a Hollywood production. Scenes for the Boston-based films “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Departed” were shot in the city’s quarries and shipyard. In 2009, actor Ben  Affleck shot scenes for “The Company Men” on a residential street in  Quincy Point too.

Boston Casting will be holding an open casting call for extras soon, we will keep you posted on any news.
