Brad Pitt will spend most of his summer filming World War Z, about zombies invading Philadelphia, only he won’t be filming in Philly, but in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to STV.tv:
Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt is expected to spend around two weeks in the city as it is transformed into a war-torn ruin that will double as US city Philadelphia.
False shop fronts and American cars will be used once shooting begins in August.
The crew and actors will be based in a tented village in George Square – an area where a lot of the action will take place, however, other parts of the city will also be closed off as it is transformed to resemble Philadelphia’s city centre.
MyFoxPhilly.com speculated Philadelphia may have lost out on the shoot because the state’s tax credit for filmmakers was in jeopardy earlier this year.
The tax credit was in limbo [in February] as the press speculated that new Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett would cut the entire tax credit from his budget. Corbett surprised a lot of people by keeping the tax credit in his March 9th budget address, and adding another $15 million annually to restore its funding to pre-2009 levels. He cited its impact on jobs within the Commonwealth.
Whatever the reason for the move to Glasgow, the shoot will be huge economic boost to that city (which is also hosting The Dark Knight Rises for a few days this summer) with more than $5 million expected to be spent during production.
In addition to Glasgow, World War Z is getting ready to shoot in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK, Malta and Hungary.
Update: Brad Pitt actually began filming World War Z today on St. Dominic Street in Valletta, Malta.
WWZ begins filming this week in Malta for about a month, then moves to UK with a few weeks in Scotland, then moves to Hungary in October. Various sites have pics of Brad, Angelina and their kids in Malta since last Saturday.

thanks!
Considering the high rate of multiple sclerosis in Scottland, the shoot will have no problem hiring zombie extras who walk funny.
Ben, you are what’s commonly known as – an asshole.
No offense, I live in Philly for whole years of my life. Question how the heck will they will make a movie look Philadelphia? to me its insult to Philly
