The Avengers has added yet another city to its long list of filming locations.
The movie is currently filming in Albuquerque, NM, is building sets in Los Angeles and New York City for future shoots, and will move to Ohio in a few weeks for the next leg of shooting.
Today, The Pittsburgh Film Office confirmed the movie will also film several second unit shots in Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. The production confirmed it will do “secondary filming about an hour outside Pittsburgh but no actors will be there.”
Even though none of the main cast will be on hand for the Pittsburgh-area filming, it will take place while The Dark Knight Rises is in town, which will likely make the area a hot spot for comic book movie fans this summer!
The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner, and is expected in theaters next year.
