‘Man of Steel’ schedule & more potential filming locations revealed

It’s no secret that Man of Steel will soon be filming in Plano, IL, thanks to an extensive construction project currently taking place Main Street.

Several building facades are being erected, including a few with structural damage, which is rumored to be from a tornado, or a meteor, depending on which comic gossip site you read.

Yesterday, we learned of the movie’s tentative filming schedule in Plano, Chicago, and eventually Vancouver.

According to one of our tipsters:

“Man of Steel” will be filming in Plano, IL and Chicago, IL under the guise of “Autumn Frost”. The tentative shoot dates are as follows:

Plano, IL (and surrounding area):
August 1, 2, 6, 8-10, 15, 22, 23, 25-27, 29-31, September 1, 2, 7, 8

Chicago, IL:
September 9-11, 14-17

The B.C. Film Commission has also recently posted the film’s Vancouver shooting dates as September 21, 2011- Jan 20, 2012.

According to a post on Superman Homepage, permits were also recently issued in Yorkville, IL (though it is unclear if the film would definitely shoot there) and producers have also requested to use a portion of U.S. 34 north of Mendota for filming later this summer or early fall. Both Yorkville and Mendota are located near Plano (which is about 60 miles east of Chicago).

As we’ve reported, some of the film’s cast has already been spotted in the area, including Russell Crowe, who was staying in Naperville, IL a couple weeks ago. Naperville has also been names as a potential filming location.

If you spot any of the sets, cast, or crew for the movie in Illinois this summer, let us know about it at olv@onlocationvacations.com!
