Steven Spielberg will attend ‘Lincoln’ reception in Virginia tonight

Steven Spielberg and the Lincoln production team will attend a reception tonight at the Executive Mansion in Virginia, which will also be used as a location in the upcoming movie.

Governor Bob McDonnell will host the event to welcome the crew to the state and “thank all involved in landing this major job-creating project for Virginia.”

The film, based on the book “Team of Rivals” by Doris Kearns Goodwin, begins production next week in the Richmond, VA area. Daniel Day-Lewis will play Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field will play Mary Todd Lincoln.

The movie, which will also use the state Capitol as a filming location, will continue filming though December 10.

There was also one more casting call for extras announced last week.

The casting company is still looking for Caucasian and African-American men. All must be 18 years of age or older, between 6’1″ or under, 200 pounds or less. Other openings still available include African-American women. Long hair is not necessary, but no dreads, braids, modern cuts or wigs. Dress size should be between 6 and 12. They are also looking for Caucasian women with longish hair of natural color, dress size between 6 and 12.

Anyone who has previously applied or attended open casting calls for this film may not resubmit.

UPDATE: The cast have all arrived in Virginia. Daniel Day-Lewis is rumored to be staying in Church Hill. Spielberg and the rest of the cast is at The Vistas in Shockoe Slip.
