Yes, there is really a sequel to ‘Taken’, and it is shooting in Los Angeles right now

When we posted this week’s filming locations for Taken 2 in Los Angeles, we never expected the backlash we received. On Twitter, in comments, and on via email, readers wanted to know was this really a sequel to 2008’s Taken, and if so, why are the making another one??

Well, they are definitely making a squeal to the first film which starred Liam Neeson as a retired CIA agent who has to use his unique skill set to rescue his daughter (played by Maggie Grace) after she is kidnapped. As far as why, studios are usually only motivated to make movies for one reason, they think they will make money.

According to filming permits issued in L.A. this week, Taken 2, a.k.a. the Untitled Taken Sequel, is filming at 56 Fremont Pl in Los Angeles for the next two days. The movie is also expected to shoot in Turkey and France.

As far as the plot goes, The Hollywood Reporter says that the villain will be the father of the kidnapper slain by Bryan Mills (Neeson) in the first film. He is described as a vengeful man who gives orders and doesn’t take them. When he takes Mills and his wife hostage, their daughter is enlisted to help save them.

Taken 2 is expected in theaters this fall.
