Amy Adams joins “Into The Woods” this summer in Central Park

Amy Adams has announced she will be joining the cast of “Into the Woods” this summer for The Public Theater’s “Shakespeare in the Park”. The production will run July 23 through August 25 at the Delacorte Theatre in NYC’s Central Park.

The musical, which features songs by Stephen Sondheim, takes characters from several Brothers Grimm fairy tales to create an original story. “Into the Woods” first debut was in 1986 at the Old Globe in San Diego, it later premiered on Broadway and has to date won multiple Tony Awards.

Among the other actors in the Central Park production will be Jessie Mueller (“On a Clear Day You Can See Forever”) as Cinderella, Gideon Glick (“Spring Awakening”) as Jack, and Ivan Hernandez and Cooper Grodin as the two princes. Still to be cast is the key role of the Witch – recent rumors have connected Meryl Streep with this role, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Tickets to “Shakespeare in the Park” are free and distributed (two per person) at the Delacorte Theater the day of the show!
