Back in January we reported the upcoming Andy Garcia/Vera Farmiga rom-com Admissions (not to be confused with Admission starring Tina Fey) was prepping to begin filming at the University of Mississippi, but that shoot was soon pushed back.
First, the shoot was postponed to May 30th, then again to July, and now – according to various industry publications – the movie’s filming location will no longer be Oxford, Mississippi, but instead they are planning to shoot in Spokane, Washington.
According to the movie’s production company they are currently in pre-production and will begin filming at various locations – including Gonzaga University, Washington State University’s Pullman and Spokane campuses, the Masonic Temple in downtown Spokane and at St. Aloysius Church on the GU campus – on July 16.
The movie is still in need of extras for a scene filming on Saturday, July 28 on the Gonzaga campus that requires several hundred extras. They are looking for extras between the ages of 18 and 28 willing to run into a pond. They will also be raffling off some Apple products for those willing to attend. Admissions centers on a once-in-a-lifetime relationship that develops between two strangers over the course of a single day. Farmiga portrays Edith, a free-spirited mom taking her driven daughter on a walking tour of a beautiful small college. Garcia plays buttoned-up heart surgeon George, who is taking his son Conrad on the same tour. Failing comically to connect with their respective children, Edith and George decide to play “tour hooky” together for the rest of the afternoon. The result is a surprising romance and the greatest half-day of their lives.
