The Michigan Film Office announced this week that AMC has been approved for the state’s film incentive program.
The network, which is already the home of fan favorites like The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad, will shoot the pilot episode of Low Winter Sun in Detroit this fall.
The potential series will follow a Detroit detective after a crime changes his life. The pilot is adapted from a British miniseries and will be executive produced by Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case).
If Low Winter Sun is picked up by AMC, there is a possibility the entire series will be filmed in Detroit.
“Series like this provide long-term work for our crew and this one in particular would provide ample opportunities to showcase landmarks throughout metro Detroit to a national audience,” said Michigan Film Office director Carrie Jones.
Currently, the movie Category 6 also continues filming at the former Raleigh Michigan Studios, now Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac.
