Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off tonight with the amfAR New York Gala. The black tie benefit will honor Kenneth Cole, Janet Jackson, and Heidi Klum, for their exceptional contributions to the fight against AIDS.
Since 1998, the amfAR New York Gala has become one of New York City’s most successful AIDS benefits and has saluted some of the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, art, and AIDS advocacy, including Roberto Cavalli, President Bill Clinton, Clive Davis, Richard Gere, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Sir Elton John and David Furnish, Quincy Jones, Donna Karan, Liza Minnelli, Rosie O’Donnell, Natasha Richardson, Carine Roitfeld, Julian Schnabel, Sharon Stone, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Diane von Furstenberg, Barbara Walters, Robin Williams, and Anna Wintour. The Gala has raised more than $11 million to date.
Tonight’s event begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner, entertainment, and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. The gala will take place at Cipriani Wall Street, 55 Wall Street in New York City.
