‘Cake Boss’ filming new pilot for TLC in upstate NY this week

TV crews are heading to a family-owned bakery in Upstate NY this week to tape the pilot episode of a potential new series that is being described as a “Kitchen Nightmares for bakeries.”

Star of TLC’s Cake Boss Buddy Valastro will host the pilot, which is tentatively being called Bakery Go Time, and visit struggling family-run bakeries attempt to revitalize the business.

“Knowing first hand the challenges of running a business — and the complications of doing it with relatives at your side — Buddy will spend an intensive week helping a family in crisis, both personally and professionally, evaluating their every ingredient and technique — and challenging them to make big changes all in an effort to transform their crumbling dream into a dough-making enterprise,” TLC said in a statement.

Today, crews arrive at The Friendly Bake Shop in Frankfort, NY which is struggling to stay in business due to costly, dysfunctional machinery. The production, including Valastro, will filming at the bakery through Friday and community participation is encouraged.
