Some shows go away too soon: Firefly, Veronica Mars, Wonderfalls (I could go on, but I may start crying). Thankfully, with the ever-growing/changing ways in which we are able to ingest media, some can come back. Like Arrested Development. In case you didn’t know, it came back. You can marathon all 4 season on Netflix. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Netflix is the reason we got a season 4. Thanks, Netflix.
This new season follows each Bluth family member as they navigate the world post-Queen Mary. Hilarity obviously ensues. At the ATX Television Fest’s opening night extravaganza we were shown Gob and Maeby’s episodes. And then Maeby and Ann came out to answer questions and be generally amazing and hysterical.
For the uninitiated, I’m talking about Alia Shawkat and Mae Whitman respectively. You may know Mae from a little show called Parenthood and both Mae and Alia were on the fabulous State of Grace. The pair are best friends and the Q&A that followed the screening was charming and adorable and other adjectives that made my face hurt from too much smiling.
It was revealed that during the 4th season’s filming the actors often didn’t know what was happening with other characters, and even their own. I guess that’s what happens when you film 15 episodes concurrently. Mae also talked about being able to develop the Ann character and turn her into something more than a “bump on a log.”
There were also hints at this new season turning into a “3 act saga.” Alia teased that act 2 would be the movie, and act 3 would be them dying on camera. I’m in.
