J. J. Abrams is asking fans to donate $10 for a chance to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Abrams recorded a video from the movie’s Abu Dhabi set this week to announce Star Wars: Force for Change, a charitable initiative that is kicking off by asking fans to donate $10 or more to UNICEF. In exchange for their donation, they will be entered into a contest to be flown to Episode VII’s Pinewood Studios set and be transformed by costume and makeup teams for a role in the new movie.

There are other cool incentives for those who give more like a limited edition t-shirt ($100), the movie’s script signed by J.J. ($10,000), and a private advance screening of the movie ($50,000).

The contest might also help get around the current extras casting controversy sounding the film. The original casting company for the film, Mad Dog Casting, claims one of their former employees, Eleanor McLaughlin, left to set up her own business and poached thousands of extras contact details from them. The matter is being brought to court and could possibly delay the London portion of filming.
