As usual, The Vampire Diaries panel at Comic-Con was one of the most popular TV events of the weekend.

Here are some of the highlights from Saturday’s TVD panel:

As the festivities kicked off, fans were delighted by a mock blooper reel that showed Ian and Kat getting written off the show after the season finale that showed them trapped on the other side. The skit opens with the two actors telling the camera they couldn’t have been better cast members, while their co-stars complain about them eating all of the food and Nina replaces Ian’s things with her own wardrobe. The highlight of the video was a call Kat made to Joseph Morgan (The Originals) to tell him they think Damon and Bonnie are getting a spin off which prompted Morgan (as Klaus) to threaten their lives.

Matt Davis (Alaric) made a surprise appearance to confirm he will back but, since he can’t enter Mystic Falls, he’ll be teaching at the University.

Nina talked briefly about the possibility of Steroline and said she didn’t think it violated the girl code since Elena had already dated both Salvatore brothers.

Ian (finally) said what many fans have been thinking about the Elena-Stefan-Damon love triangle. “Does anyone realize that this woman should not be with either of these guys?”, he asked. “So many bad things have happened to her because of it – her house burned down, her aunt died.”
