The independent film Manchester-by-the-Sea, which is being produced by Matt Damon, has started filming in Massachusetts.
The movie follows Lee Chandler, played by Casey Affleck, as he is made the legal guardian of his nephew following the sudden death of his brother Joe, played by Kyle Chandler. The incident forces him to deal with the issues that led to the end of his marriage to Randi, played by Michelle Williams.
Manchester-by-the-Sea is set entirely on the North Shore, where it will also be filmed. Filming began in Manchester on Monday with shooting moving to Beverly on Tuesday for the rest of the week. So far, the production has been spotted at Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St, and the Central Cemetery in Beverly.
Base camp is currently located 33 Tozer Rd in Beverly (production signs read MCBTS) and we’ve heard the movie has also rented out the old Appleseed’s Clothing Warehouse. Other upcoming filming locations will include Essex, Gloucester and Salem as cameras continue to roll through April.
Billy Dowd Casting is handling all local extras casting for the film.
