Last week the news broke that the Blade Runner sequel, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling alongside Harrison Ford, who’s returning as Richard Deckard, will begin filming in July.
The news comes with the announcement that Sony Pictures has received international distribution rights for the film, while Warner Bros. will distribute in North America through a deal with Alcon.
Of course, any plot details are being kept quiet but it is said that the film will pick up decades after the ending of the first one. There is also no word about where it might shoot but, given Villeneuve is a Quebec native and Canada has some of the best film incentives in the world, we wouldn’t be surprised if the film ends up shooting in Montreal.
Stay tuned for more details this summer!
