How to be an Extra on ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘Chicago PD’ and ‘Chicago Med’

As we continue our series explaining how some extras get those awesome roles on their favorite TV shows, it’s a good time to share the details about becoming an extra on three of NBC’s biggest shows – Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med.

The first thing to know to be an extra (on any show) is that you need to live in close proximity to where the show is filmed – so, of course, that means you must live in Chicago.

Next, you need to know which agency handles casting for which show and how to register with them. Casting for both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med is handled by Joan Philo Casting, while Tailsticks Casting takes care of Chicago PD’s background casting.

To apply for an extras job with either company, you first have to register with them online at thedarlingseries.com and tailstickscasting.com.

Next, you’ll want to follow both of  Joan Philo’s Facebook Pages (Chicago Fire Extras and Chicago Med Extras) and Tailsticks Facebook Page for the latest casting calls, this will give you a good idea of what they’re looking for and how to contact them.

Good luck!
