CBS’ Criminal Minds spinoff, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders got off to a good start when it debuted Wednesday.
The new series stars Gary Sinise, Tyler James Williams, Alana De La Garza, Daniel Henney and Annie Funke as the team that heads up the international unit of the FBI, tasked with coming to the aid of, and solving crimes involving, American citizens in foreign countries. The new show is filmed in Los Angeles and based at CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Avenue, Studio City.
But, according to Variety, the series might not be able to maintain its strong rating next week, when Chicago PD returns with new episodes on NBC. Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders “averaged a timeslot-winning 1.6/6 in 18-49, 2.3/7 in 25-54 and 8.65 million total viewers. It retained a solid 84% of its 18-49 lead-in from Criminal Minds and opened a tick higher than last fall’s timeslot debut of Code Black. While a solid start, Beyond Borders may be hard-pressed to match these numbers going forward given it will face tougher competition from original episodes of Chicago PD, while its own Criminal Minds lead-in figures to drop once Fox’s Empire returns. Five years ago, the Criminal Minds spinoff Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior retained 100% of its Criminal Minds lead-in before fading in subsequent weeks.”
The potential for a drop in the ratings isn’t deterring CBS from celebrating the new series. To mark the debut of Beyond Borders CBS is giving viewers ONE MONTH of CBS ALL ACCESS FREE! To sign up, click on the link below and use the PROMO CODE. The offer expires March 23, 2016 at 11:59pm PST.
