Last night, Game of Thrones finally returned and fans weren’t disappointed with the season six premiere that left them with yet another twist to ponder. With the season just starting, one of the show’s primary filming locations is looking to cash in, too.
Many of the show’s most important locations, and main studio, are located in Northern Ireland where the Brit Movie Tours’ Game of Thrones Tour is booking up fast.
Based out of Belfast, the tour brings fans to the iconic sites from the first five season, along with the region’s most stunning sites like Carrick-a-Rede and the Giant’s Causeway on the Antrim coast.
A local guide describes what scenes were filmed where, gives fans the chance to pose with costumes and props, or walk into the caves where Melisandre of Asshai gave birth to her ‘shadow assassin’.
For lunch, the tour stops in the coastal town of Ballycastle, home to Conleth Hill (Varys) and Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark).
Another highlight of the tour includes Dark Hedge, one of Northern Ireland’s most photographed locations and the place where Arya Stark dressed as a boy to escape from King’s Landing.
Fans who want to book a tour for the busy summer travel season should do so soon. Since Game of Thrones films in the summer, tours become increasingly popular and, often, the show’s location managers have to turn buses away from the filming locations they use most often, to keep fans, and spoilers, at bay.
The 9-hour Game of Thrones Tour takes place daily and costs £35 per adult. To book, visit britmovietours.com.
