First it was the Saved By The Bell enthusiasts who got their own eatery, now fans of the Golden Girls will have their own restaurant, too.
Eater is reporting that Michael J. LaRue, a close friend of the late Rue McClanahan who played Blanche Devereaux on the show, plans to open the restaurant in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City this September.
The café will be decorated with memorabilia LaRue inherited from McClanahan and will “serve soups, wraps, salads, desserts, baked treats and wine.” The Walt Disney Company, which currently owns the rights to the show , is “allowing the café to manufacture its very own Golden Girls’ merchandise using images from the television show.”
LaRue has also said that Betty White, who played Rose Nylund on the show, will be in attendance for the restaurant’s grand opening this fall.
The announcement of another TV show-themed restuarant has given me hope there might be a trip to a Peach Pit in my future. What TV show would like to see turned into a restaurant? Share your idea in the comments below!
