For the past few years, the AOL Build Series has become a great spot for celebrity sightings in New York. Currently located at 692 Broadway, the Build Series has multiple interviews per day, from Monday to Friday, usually scheduled every 30 minutes. The topics range from movies/TV shows to politics. It is safe to say it is almost a mandatory stop for any project doing promo in New York.
The studio is small, so attendees are seated very near the guests, which makes it feel more like a conversation than an interview.
After each interview, which usually lasts around 20 minutes, there is a Q&A session, when attendees can ask their questions directly to the guests.
Even though it may happen occasionally, photos and autographs are not allowed inside the studio and the guests tend to be rushed out, so everything can be quickly ready for the next interview. The best way to take pictures with the guests and get memorabilia signed is either on their way in or on their way out of the studio.
There are always barricades in place for crowd control, which helps especially when the guests are Hollywood A-listers. Many cast members from movies nominated for Oscars have visited the studio and AOL has compiled their interviews here. There is also a dedicated page for Grammy nominees.
The lineup is constantly updated and features high-profile artists. For example, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Daniel Brüh, Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Chris Hemsworth, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, among others, have all been interviewed there. Some of them sell out quickly, but most of them have better availability.
If you are interested in watching these interviews in person, you can go to www.buildseries.com, check their calendar and register for the one you would like to attend. Registrations are free.
All interviews are streamed live and the videos are available in their website’s archives.
How many audience
Members does the build series hold? Do they oversell the talks, or are you pretty much guaranteed to get in if you have a ticket and arrive before they open the doors to your event (30 minutes prior to the scheduled taping time)?
