Season 8 of the HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones is currently being filmed at the ruins of Italica, Spain. Fans of the show might recognize the amphitheater from the previous season, as it was used as the Dragonpit.
According to EFE, no casting call for extras has been announced so far, as the crew is capturing background footage without actors. The main cast is expected to arrive on May 3 and the filming should continue until May 19th.
The amphitheater will not be the only location used in this trip, with filming expected to happen around the whole city. Some parts of the city, as well as the amphitheater, will be closed to visitors until May 27th, despite filming ending on the 19th, which raises questions as to what will be done in this period.
The next season of Game of Thrones will be released in 2019 and will be the last of the show, with only 6 episodes.
