Highlights of This Year’s Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival kicks off this week. Here’s a look at the movies (and the stars) everyone will be talking about this year.

Rebecca Miller’s “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,” stars Robin Wright Penn as the disturbed wife of Alan Arkin. The film also features Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Blake Lively and Julianne Moore.

“The Informant,”, directed by Steven Soderberghstar, stars Matt Damon as a bipolar whistle-blower making life difficult for Archer Daniels Midland Corp.

“A Serious Man,” by Joel and Ethan Coen, stars Adam Arkin and Richard Kind and explores what it meant to grow up Jewish in Minneapolis.

“The Road,” starring Viggo Mortensen, is the an adaptation of a Cormac McCarthy’s post-apocalyptic fantasy of a man and his son on the road.

“The Joneses” stars Demi Moore and David Duchovny as the suburban couple the rest of us are always supposedly trying to keep up with.

“Up in the Air” directed by Jason Reitman stars George Clooney in one of the two Clooney films that will be seen in Toronto this year.The other Clooney film will be “Men Who Stare at Goats” about paranormal doings co-starring Ewan McGregor.

“The Invention of Lying,” features Ricky Gervais taking on religion with the help of Tina Fey, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Stewart and Jonah Hill.
