Friday’s Filming News: ‘MacGruber’ trailer, Gerard Butler in Serbia, Samuel L. Jackson begins filming in LA and more headlines

-Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed on for the action thriller Protection which will be shot in New Mexico this fall. Check out the trailer for another made in New Mexico movie, MacGruber above. The SNL skit turned feature film hits theaters May 21. [Reuters]

-Kerri Russell and Will Arnett have been in Vancouver for the past few weeks filming a new pilot, Wilde Kingdom, which is being produced by Arrested Development’s Mitch Hurwitz, and stars Arnett as a Beverly Hills playboy who falls for a humanitarian (Russell). [Just Jared, BG Online]

-Ashley Tisdale has already wrapped her CW pilot Hellcats in Vancouver. The series follows a smart outsider at Memphis’ Lancer University who’s forced to try out for the Hellcats – the college’s competitive cheerleading team – after she loses her scholarship. Now, Ashley’s back in L.A. getting ready to shoot her next project for Disney. [Just Jared]

-Gerard Butler was spotted on the set his new movie, Coriolanus, in Belgrade, Serbia this week. The movie also marks Ralph Fienes directorial debut. [Just Jared]

-HBO’s Eastbound & Down has moved production from Wilmington to Puerto Rico for season 2. [Star News Online]

-Feo Aladag’s German drama When We Leave, starring Sibel Kekilli as an abused wife, took home best feature and actress honors Thursday at the ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival. [THR]

-The Florida hurricane flick, Eye of the Hurricane, will be filmed next month in St. Marys, GA. [Jacksonville.com]

-One for the Money, starring Katherine Heigl, will begin filming in in Pittsburgh in July. [ComingSoon.net, PW]

-Katie Holmes has been cast as Jackie O in the upcoming min-series, The Kennedys. According to PW, the movie will be shot in Toronto, Ontario. [PW, STG]

Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, officially wrapped filming in Montreal this week. [Man Made Movies]

-The True Blood production crew spent several days filming at Longwood in Natchez, MS earlier this month. Meanwhile, the house featured in the show’s opening credits is currently for sale. It’s located on the west/southwest side of Austin Place, at 728 Austin Place, Shreveport, Louisiana. [True Blood Online, Accidental Sexiness]

-This summer, Seth Rogen and Michelle Williams are set to begin filming Take This Waltz in Toronto. The plot is said to revolve around a love triangle between actress Sarah Polley, Williams, and Rogen. [Collider]

-Samuel L. Jackson begins filming Fury (or Deathgames as it is also known) in Baton Rouge, LA this weekend, but its not that Fury. The movie, which will be based at Celtic Studios, also stars Kellan Lutz. [Nola.com]

-Killing Karma, which stars the WWE’s Triple H, is currently in production in NOLA. [Miami Herald]

-Garrett Hedlund of the upcoming Tron Legacy is in talks to star as Dean Moriarty in On The Road, Walter Salles’ adaptation of the classic Jack Kerouac novel. Filming is slated to begin this summer. [MTV]

-Eric Bana is currently filming a new action movie, Hanna, in Berlin, Germany. [JJ]

-Finally, Batman 3 has a release date: July 20, 2012. [THR]
