The best part of running OLV is being able to tell all of your stories. Whether its some amazing scoop from a movie set, a random celeb sighting, or finally being able to meet a celebrity who has inspired you, if you have a celeb story that you think is exciting, chances are I’m going to think so too (and so will all of our readers)!
That’s why I want to focus more on those fan stories and photos, the ones that have put a smile on your face or made your heart race, I want to share more your stories with fellow fans and continue to grow the amazing community that already surrounds this little website!
Which also means continuing to run special features on some of our regular readers, like Brian, who has found a way to combine his hobby with his work.
Check out Brian’s story and photos below and be sure to share your favorite celeb sightings or movie set visits with OLV by emailing them to olv@onlocationvacations.com!
I’ve been collecting autographs since 2001. I worked at an airport in San Francisco and the first celebrity I ever meet was Robin Williams. Robin was a very nice guy and I had told him that I worked at a movie theater and we started talking. He gave me a nickname” movie man”, we started to joke with each other and for Christmas have gave me honey roasted ham.
I decide to head back to the east coast and landed a job at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. Boy, that was the best move I ever made. I meet all kinds of celebrities there. From Sting, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Geroge Clooney, Hilary Swank and the list goes on and on. Those were the happy days and I started to ask people for pictures and autographs.
My first autograph was Jackie Mason and my first picture was with Chris Tucker. But the one person I always wanted to meet was Bono. On September 15, 2005 I finally met my hero and I got star struck, that is the only time I got star struck. I was so happy to meet him that I stuttered the words “I’m a huge fan”. My co-worker was laughing his butt off.
Then I meet up with a crew and they told me that they were picking up George Carlin. That was on April 13, 2007, it is the brightest day of my life.
On October, 11, 2006 I was training at work and I heard that Cory Lidle was leaving and he signed my baseball for me. I was really happy, but I got a phone call from my mom that a plane had crashed in NYC that day and later, on the news, I found out it was Cory’s aircraft. My heart was broken.
I meet a guy named Justin and we became friends and he was telling me about (celeb) stuff in NYC. So I gave it a shot. He told me about Dave Letterman, Regis and Kelly, and movie premieres. I went to my first movie premiere for Jumper and had a blast. Met the cast and crew from the film and that’s when I got hooked. I also met a good friend (celeb sighting) named Jamie. She got me hooked on Tina Fey. After meeting her 10 times in the last year I finally had the heart to ask for a picture!
Thanks again to Brian for sharing a few of his celeb sightings with us, proving that meeting a personal hero can be an experience you carry with you for the rest of your life. Can’t wait to hear more!
Cool story, glad you got to meet your celebs but to do it while working and in uniform is quite unprofessional. I’m a NYC police officer and working different details I’ve run across and met all kinds of celebs ranging form Bon Jovi to Alicia Keyes. Antony Hopkins, Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon Levitt, etc etc…. I’ve said hello, some have even offered handshakes and “thank yous”, but I never NEVER have asked for an autograph or picture while working or in uniform. Seems very unprofessional.
