If you are a fan of Game of Thrones and always wanted to visit some of the locations where the show takes place, there are now many opportunities to do so.
The tour company Brendan Vacations offers a 8-day train package through Ireland that takes Game of Thrones fans to several cities where the show was filmed. The train leaves from Dublin and goes to Belfast, Antrim Coast, and Londonderry.
Even though Belfast was used for the Titanic Studios, which is not open for visiting, it is only 40 minutes away from CastleWard, which is the National Trust property from the 18th century where scenes in Winterfell were filmed. Once you get there, you can take one of the many local tours tailored to Game of Thrones.
There is also a more immersive package called Road to Winterfell, which takes you to CastleWard and to 15 other locations, including ‘Stark Sacks’ which houses props and costumes. There is a day in the itinerary dedicated to the Iron Islands (or Giants’ Causeway & Ballintoy Harbour) and The Dark Hedges (the most photographed location in Northern Ireland).
So there’s plenty to do for the fans after the show is over!
